Situational Leadership

A leadership development programme built around adapting leadership style to the development level of each team member.

What's inside

This collection helps leaders move beyond their default style and develop the flexibility to direct, coach, support, or delegate depending on what each person needs. The programme includes micro lessons, self-assessment exercises, team mapping tools, and style experiments.

The programme covers:

Introduction with leadership style self-assessment. The Four Styles with dedicated sections for Directing, Coaching, Supporting, and Delegating — when to use each, what it looks like in practice, and common mistakes. Team Mapping with exercises for assessing each team member's development level across their key responsibilities. Style Experiments for practising unfamiliar styles with specific people and reflecting on the impact. Integration reviewing what's changed in leadership flexibility.

How to use this collection

As a leadership coaching programme, deliver over eight to ten weeks for leaders who want to develop their range. Particularly effective for new managers, leaders who've received feedback about micromanaging, and high performers stepping into broader roles.

For team performance issues, the team mapping exercise often reveals a style-development level mismatch that explains friction. Use relevant sections diagnostically.

For manager development programmes, build a cohort programme where managers work through content individually and share insights in group coaching sessions.
